Review Process and Selection Criteria

Review Process and Review Panel

  • Letters of Intent (LOI) will be solicited by the Midwest Division and reviewed by a Review Panel. The applicants of those LOI that show evidence of meeting the criteria for the CBPR Grants Program will be invited to submit a full application for Panel review.
  • Full applications will be judged on how well they address the breast cancer priority, including a focus on health disparities, and fulfill the criteria of the CBPR Grants Program
  • In addition to the above, applications will be judged on:
    • Potential impact on the community  
    • Project design and plan for evaluation
    • Budget justification
    • Potential for being sustained within the community or exported to other communities
  • The Review Panel and its Chair shall be acceptable by the Board of Directors of the Midwest Division, American Cancer Society, and include a total of 8-10 members representing communities, experts, and members of the Midwest Division Board of Directors.
  • The Panel shall adopt a numerical system reflecting the above criteria to evaluate and rank proposals.  The Panel will determine a threshold for approval.

 

Timeline

  • Requests for Letters of Intent announced May 17, 2010
  • Letters of Intent due on June 14, 2010
  • Requests for full applications announced July 21, 2010
  • Full applications due September 15, 2010
  • Announcement of awards October 25, 2010
  • First grant installment disbursed November 2010 after the Grant Agreement is fully executed
  • Mid-project Reports due –November 21, 2011
  • Second installment disbursed – December 19, 2011
  • Final Reports due – January 12, 2012.
 
Notification of Grant Awards
  • Following the Review Panel’s consideration of full applications, applicants will receive written notification of the Panel’s decision regarding their application.
  • Those applications that are approved for funding will receive one-half of the total award within fifteen (15) business days after the Grant Agreement is fully executed.
  • Those applications that are approved will receive a second installment of funding following the receipt of an acceptable Interim Report, usually halfway through the project.

 

Changes to the Application

  • Withdrawal of Application
  • Change of Address
  • Change of Organizational Name
  • Change of Project Name
  • Change in Project Protocol, Principal Investigator, or Use of Funds

 

NOTE:  A written notice of any change must be sent to the American Cancer Society at 2250 Pilot Knob Road, Suite 150, Mendota Heights, MN, 55120, to the attention of Caryl Range.  The letter should include the proposed change(s) and reasons for any change. Funding changes must be approved prior to implementation.
